My arts education non-profit, Stages Chicago, rented the Začek-McVay Mainstage Theater this spring for our production of Shrek Jr featuring students in Grades K-9. We had so much positive feedback from families who were thrilled to have their children perform at such a historic venue. Archana who is currently running the day to day is a pleasure to work with. There were some small hiccups throughout our two week rental which is to be expected from a venue that has been mostly dark for the past few years but Archana was very responsive and helped us get everything figured out. With so many other Chicago theaters of this size closing or being replaced by condos, this venue is truly one of a kind and so special. We will definitely be back! We rented a theater hall at Victory Gardens Theater and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The space was beautiful, professional, and very well maintained. The staff was incredibly helpful, responsive, and accommodating throughout the entire process, making everything smooth and stress free. The atmosphere of the venue added something truly special to our event, and our guests were very impressed with both the theater itself and the overall organization. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the professionalism of the team. Highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a high quality theater space for performances, private events, or productions. We would absolutely rent here again! I did not see a show or go inside, but I had to take in the experience of where John Dillinger was shot by FBI agents on July 22, 1934. The actual alleyway where he was shot is just a few steps away. There is a mural of Dillinger on the wall. This is a MUST see for anyone fellow American Gangster history buff. The original neon sign has been changed a number of years ago, but that does not take away from the experience. There is plenty of parking on the street. I went in the middle of a weekday afternoon. I hope this review helps out anybody that is thinking of making a trip to the theatre. lawrence adelsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chicago contains alot of history and part of that history is Victory Gardens Theater where Gangster John Dillinger was shot and killed. The alley is marked with a Mural and a quote from Dillinger. So if you're into the whole gangster thing as well as 30s history of America then this location is for you.
